…I can’t wait to get on the road again

I am the.worst.packer. Ever.  There is nothing in everyday life I dread more than packing.  Just typing it send shivers up my spine.  I panic.  Do I need two pairs of jeans or three?  What if I spill something on my only white shirt?  Maybe I shouldn’t pack toothpaste and just buy some when I get there.

I remember watching an *N Sync video tape and they were interviewed about all the traveling they have to do and JC said “I’m so used to it, I can be packed and out the door in five minutes flat.”  And at that time in my life, I was so obsessed with JC and his every move that whenever people would ask me about traveling or packing (which was rare, let’s be honest – I was 13) I would say “I love packing, I can be packed and out the door in five minutes flat.”  And I’ll be honest, I still lie and tell people that.  Because somewhere deep down inside me still lives that 13 year old girl I once was.  She is the one who forces me to dv-r Hannah Montana, and who keeps the High School Musical soundtrack in my car.  But that’s an issue for another blogpost.  Or a psychiatrist.

If you’ll recall, I hate packing.  And in just about 24 hours I will be on my way to New Orleans for a quick reunion weekend with my college roommate.  I have never been to New Orleans, which makes this packing dilemma that much worse.  Do I bring my straightener?  Will the New Orleanians mock my flip-flopped feet?  Will the airline allow me to bring my electric toothbrush in my carry-on?

And so I face this evening the impossible task of packing for four whole days.

Ah sanity, I hardly knew ye.
